Quiz Certificate Settings
SurveyMars Quiz Certificate Settings add a customizable results page after submission: use your layout and copy to summarize pass/fail, score, and honors messaging alongside detailed per-question transcript content, so respondents can keep and share that highlight.
What needs does this cover? Common scenarios include:
- You don't want full transcript details shown to everyone, but you still need formal recognition for people who meet the bar.
- Graduation, certification, and credential-style quizzes need a numbered certificate for records or external proof.
- Internal training, compliance, and gamified quizzes need proof of passing.
- Events and brands want second reach after the quiz (for example your logo and QR code on the certificate).
If your priority is wrong-answer review and instructional feedback, the transcript stays primary; use certificates as an extra highlights page for pass, meet-the-bar, and commemorative moments.

Scan the QR code below with your phone to try the quiz certificate experience.

1. Where to open quiz certificate settings
1. Open your quiz, go to the Transcript Settings page, find the quiz certificate entry, then click Configure Certificate or the configuration control to open certificate settings.

2. Or open the entry from the Design wizard to jump straight to certificate settings.

3. After you enter, you see a two-pane layout: on the left, adjust background, score threshold, after-quiz display, and fields; on the right, preview the certificate in real time.

2. Background Image: built-in templates and custom upload
1. The system provides four preset backgrounds; the first is selected by default. Click another option to switch and check the preview on the right.
2. You can upload a custom background (you can also use the platform AI image tools to create a base image). Fixed copy or decorative icons can be baked into the template image.
3. For mobile, use a portrait base image; about 800px × 1280px is recommended, up to 5MB per file.

3. Post-Quiz Certificate Display Settings
These three options together control who sees a certificate and what respondents see first after they submit.
1. Hide the certificate if the score is below: A certificate appears only when the score is above your threshold; at or below it, no certificate is shown (independent of the transcript button setting). Leave it blank for no threshold (certificates can appear at all scores).

2. Show certificate button on transcript: When on, the transcript or related completion flow shows View certificate; when off, it does not.

3. Redirect to certificate page after quiz completion: When checked, submitters go straight to the certificate page. When unchecked, they see the transcript first and tap View certificate to open the certificate.
4. Custom fields and system fields
In the field list on the left, show or hide each field and adjust font size, color, and position on the certificate (exact controls follow the editor).
Common fields
- Name: To show a name on the certificate, your quiz usually needs a question that captures the respondent's name (for example a name text field). With matrix fill-in-blank, you can set one row title as the name field so it can feed the certificate.
- Score: Shows the final score; you can adjust style and placement.
- Certificate Number: A unique system-generated number per certificate for verification and records.
- QR Code: On by default; use it to share this quiz. You can resize and reposition it.
Other system fields (add as needed)
- Serial Number: Response serial number.
- Submitted Time: Submission timestamp (year, month, day, hour, minute, second).
- Survey Title: Current quiz title.
- Question Total Value: Total points for the quiz.
- Time Spent: Time to complete, in seconds (for example 120s).
- Answer placeholders: To insert a question's answer, use [q1] for question 1, then [q2], [q3], and so on. For multiple fill-in-the-blank, multiple short answer, cloze test, and similar sub-items, use [q4_1] for question 4, sub-item 1—the same placeholder rules as elsewhere in the product.
In the preview on the right, click the helper copy for rich-text editing and drag to adjust layout; question-based fields list question numbers where possible so they map cleanly to placeholders on the certificate.

FAQ
Q: Why don't I see "View certificate" on the transcript?
A: Check in order: your Quiz Certificate Settings are saved; your score is above the value set under Hide the certificate if the score is below; Show certificate button on transcript is on; the item is a quiz and certificates apply in that context.
Q: I want the transcript first, then the certificate. How do I set that?
A: Turn off Redirect to certificate page after quiz completion and turn on Show certificate button on transcript. After submit, respondents see the transcript first, then tap View certificate to open the certificate.
Q: How do I insert one question's answer on the certificate?
A: In Custom fields and system fields, use Answer placeholders such as [q1], [q2] for those question numbers, and [q4_1]-style syntax for sub-items. Drag items in the preview on the right to lay them out.
Q: I don't have a standalone "name" question. Can I still issue a certificate?
A: In some cases (for example contact-based collection) a certificate may still generate. If the UI asks for a Name field, add a question that captures the respondent's name (for example a name text field), or set a matrix fill-in-blank row title as the name source—see Common fields above.
Q: When I copy to a new quiz, do certificate settings copy too?
A: When you copy a quiz and select Quiz content and All settings (or the equivalent), Quiz Certificate Settings can copy with it so you don't start from scratch.
