What is the Calculation Formula
We often hope to use a formula to automatically calculate numbers or questions in a questionnaire, automatically generate data, or automatically select options. This avoids manual entry errors. The "Calculation Formula" feature meets this need.
Currently Supported Syntax Rules
Excel functions
Regular expressions
How to Use
1. Feature Entry Point: Edit Question > Logic Settings > "Calculation Formula" section. Note: The "Formula Overview" button on the top-left of the questionnaire editing page only displays a formula summary.
2. Click "Calculation Formula", select the formula type (Excel Function, Regular Expression) and corresponding execution logic in the pop-up window.
Input the formula and question numbers (e.g., [q1], [q2]) to participate in calculations.
You can also click "Common Formulas" to insert predefined formulas.
You can click "Insert Question Number" to add questions.

Other Settings
1. Is modification allowed:
- Default is "Not allowed to modify", meaning results calculated by formulas cannot be altered.
- If set to "Allowed to modify", the formula results can be manually adjusted.
2. Hidden questions processed:
- Default is "Do not process", meaning the question remains visible in the questionnaire.
- When a question is hidden but requires its value for formula calculations, set this option to "Assign value to participate in calculation" and assign a value.
Important Reminder
Adding new questions or options after formulas or syntax-based questions have been entered will alter the question numbering, causing all existing formulas or syntax rules to become invalid. It is recommended to finalize all questionnaire questions before adding calculation formulas.
FAQ
Q1: What is the Calculation Formula function? What does it do?
A: The Calculation Formula function allows automatic calculation of numbers or questions in questionnaires, automatic data generation, or automatic option selection. This avoids manual input errors and improves the intelligence and accuracy of questionnaires.
Q2: What syntax rules does the Calculation Formula function support?
A: Currently supports two syntax rules: Excel functions and regular expressions. Excel functions can be used just like in Excel, simply replacing cell references with corresponding question numbers (such as [q1], [q2]).
Q3: How to access the Calculation Formula function?
A: Go to Edit Question → Logic Settings → "Calculation Formula" section. Note: The "Formula Overview" button in the top-left corner of the questionnaire editing page only displays formula summaries and cannot be edited.
Q4: How to set modification permissions for calculation formulas?
A: Default setting is "Not allowed to modify", meaning the results calculated by formulas cannot be changed. If set to "Allowed to modify", formula results can be manually adjusted. This provides a balance between flexibility and control.
Q5: What important matters should be noted when using calculation formulas?
A: Important reminder: After entering formulas or syntax-based questions, adding new questions or options will change question numbering, causing all existing formulas or syntax rules to become invalid. It is recommended to complete all questionnaire question settings before adding calculation formulas.
