Discord Share

This guide explains how to use Discord Share on the SurveyMars  Send survey page to share your survey on Discord channels or chats with a customizable share card.

Overview

SurveyMars  supports sharing surveys through the official Discord bot. You can customize the title, image, description, and more, send a share card with your survey link in Discord, and track responses collected through this channel. Discord Share is off by default and must be enabled manually; you can turn it off independently without affecting other share methods.

Use cases

- Your audience is active in Discord communities, servers, or team channels and you want to distribute surveys there.

- You need to customize the share title, image, and description so the Discord card is more engaging.

- You want to cap responses from Discord and view Discord Share response counts separately.

Feature access

1. Open your survey and go to the Send survey page.

2. In the share options area, find Discord Share — it appears after Microsoft Teams share.

3. Discord Share is disabled by default. Clicking into it enables the feature; once enabled, the response count from Discord Share is shown.

4. You can disable Discord Share at any time without affecting other channels.

Share interface

The Discord Share screen has two parts:

- Left: Settings (title, image, description, border color, response limit, bot name, survey link, share channel, and more).

- Right: Preview and send (live preview of the share card and the share action).

Configure Discord Share

1. Custom title: Set the title shown on the Discord share card.

2. Custom image: A default image with the SurveyMars brand logo is provided. You can replace or remove it; like other share methods, an AI image generation entry is available for custom backgrounds.

3. Description: Edit the share message. The default text is: I created a survey using SurveyMars. Can you spare a moment to take my survey? Thank you! plus your survey link. A field insert control appears at the top-right of the description (same as WhatsApp Share). Follow the character limits shown in the UI for each field.

4. Border color: Customize the card border color.

5. Response limit: Set the maximum number of responses allowed through Discord Share. This limit stays in sync with the limit on the Survey settings page.

6. Bot name, Survey link, Share channel: Configure as shown in the UI; the survey link is generated automatically.

When settings are ready, check the preview on the right before sharing.

Share to Discord

1. Click Share.

2. If you are not signed in to Discord, a Discord sign-in/authorization dialog opens — complete authorization to continue.

3. If you are already signed in, the Discord share dialog opens directly with your configured title, image, description, and other settings pre-filled.

4. Choose the target channel or contact in Discord and confirm to send.

If authorization fails: If you cancel or authorization fails, you return to the Discord Share page with the message: Authorization failed, sharing failed.

Response limit (Survey settings)

In addition to the Discord Share panel, you can set the response limit on the Survey settings page; both locations stay in sync.

1. Open your survey Settings.

2. Find the Response limit option and set the maximum allowed responses.

3. Save — the limit applies to Discord Share as well.

Manage Discord Share

1. Turn off sharing: Disable Discord Share on the Send survey page to stop new shares via this channel; existing shares are not removed.

2. View response stats: When Discord Share is enabled, the entry shows how many responses were collected through Discord Share.

Important notes

1. Discord Share is off by default until you open and enable it.

2. Sharing uses the official Discord bot and requires a valid Discord account and authorization.

3. Description and other fields have character limits — follow the labels in the UI.

4. Response limits configured in Discord Share and Survey settings are synchronized.

5. Discord Share is fully supported on mobile and desktop.

6. Cancelled or failed authorization returns you to the share page with: Authorization failed, sharing failed.

FAQs

Q: Where is the Discord Share entry?
A: On the Send survey page, in the share options area, after Microsoft Teams share. It is off by default; click to enable.
