This guide explains how to use Chat Mode in SurveyMars. Chat Mode simulates a chat assistant who asks survey questions one at a time in a conversational style, creating a more natural and engaging response experience. It is ideal for surveys where you want to improve interactivity and completion rates.
Feature Overview
Chat Mode simulates a chat assistant role. Survey questions are asked in the assistant's tone, and respondents answer in a chat-style format — one question and one answer at a time.
Compared with traditional paginated surveys, Chat Mode offers the following benefits:
- Questions are presented one at a time, reducing reading pressure for respondents.
- The interface resembles instant messaging, creating a more interactive and friendly experience.
- You can customize the assistant's nickname, avatar, background image, and header to match your brand or business scenario.
Setup Steps
1. Go to "Share" > "Survey Mode" and click to enable "Chat Mode".

2. In the popup, configure the settings according to your business needs, then click "Save" to apply.

Configuration Options
1. Nickname: The display name shown during the chat. Choose a name that fits your scenario, such as "Support Agent" or "Survey Assistant."
2. Avatar: The profile image shown during the chat. Upload a brand logo or character image to improve recognition.
3. Background Image: Customize the chat page background with an image or color that matches your brand style.
4. Survey Header: Set the header displayed on the chat page to show the survey title, instructions, or brand information.

Chat Experience Example
Once Chat Mode is enabled, respondents answer questions one by one in a chat conversation. If a respondent selects the wrong answer, they can click "Reselect" below the question to answer it again.
