Multilingual Questionnaire
SurveyMars multilingual survey translation feature enables automatic translation of your survey content into multiple languages. This powerful tool supports 19 different languages and provides both AI translation and manual upload options, helping you reach a global audience with localized survey content.
Feature Access
There are multiple ways to access the multilingual translation feature:
1. Survey Settings Page:
- Navigate to the survey settings page
- Look for the "Auto-translate survey content" setting
- Toggle the switch to enable/disable the feature
2. Build Wizard:
- Access the design wizard page
- Find "Multilingual Questionnaire" option (4th position after questionnaire appearance)
- Click to open the multilingual settings panel
3. Multilingual Preview Page:
- In the multilingual preview page, locate the "Edit Survey" and "Switch Language" options
- Click "Edit Survey" to open the language-specific editing page in a new window
- Click "Switch Language" to open the multilingual settings panel
4. Regular Preview Page:
- In the regular survey preview page, find the multilingual settings entry
- Note: This option is not available in the edit questionnaire preview page
Translation Settings
After enabling auto-translation, click "Go to Settings" to open the configuration panel:
Default Language:
- The default display language is English
Translation Options:
- Preserve text formatting during translation
- Enable automatic language switching
Supported Languages:
Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Russian, Thai, Turkish, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Polish, Dutch，Melayu，Hebrew
Translation Methods
1. AI Translation:
- Click "AI Translation" to automatically translate your survey content
- Each language can only be translated once within 20 minutes
- If you attempt to translate again within 20 minutes, you'll receive a warning message
2. Manual Upload:
- Upload Word or Excel files with translated content
- The uploaded document structure must match the original survey exactly
- Download the original survey structure template for reference
Important Note:
- You can only use either AI translation OR manual upload for each language
- The option to re-translate or re-upload will appear based on your previous choice
Managing Translated Content
View Translated Survey:
- Click "View" to open the survey preview page in a new window
- The preview will display the survey content in the selected language
Edit Translated Survey:
- Click "Edit Survey" to open the editing page in a new window
- Make manual adjustments to the translated content
Delete Translation:
- Click "Delete" to remove the translated content
- A confirmation dialog will appear to prevent accidental deletion
Bulk Translation Options:
- If some languages are already translated, click "Translate All"
- Choose from dropdown options:
• Translate remaining untranslated languages
• Re-translate all existing translations
- Note: Dropdown only appears when some languages are translated and others are not
Language Switching
In the multilingual editing page:
- A language switching dropdown is available on the right side
- Select from languages that have already been translated
- Switch between different language versions for editing
Upload Requirements
Document Structure:
- Uploaded documents must have exactly the same structure as the original survey
- Question order, types, and formatting must match precisely
Template Download:
- Download the original survey structure template in Word or Excel format
- Use this template as a reference for creating your translated document
Upload Failure Handling:
- If the structure doesn't match, upload will fail
- A comparison view will show differences between original and uploaded content
- The system will indicate which questions don't match
- Download link for the original structure template will be provided
