Recycle Bin

The Recycle Bin feature in SurveyMars allows you to manage deleted questions during survey editing. When you delete a question, it is moved to the Recycle Bin where you can restore it or permanently delete it. This feature helps prevent accidental data loss and provides flexibility in managing your survey questions.

Feature Access

1. Navigate to the survey editing page.


2. Locate the "Recycle Bin" icon on the right side of the page.

Opening the Recycle Bin

1. Click on the "Recycle Bin" icon on the right side of the survey editing page.


2. A right-side panel will open, displaying all deleted questions.


3. The panel layout allows you to view more question content at once.

Viewing Deleted Questions

1. All deleted questions are displayed in the Recycle Bin panel.


2. Each deleted question shows its question type and content.


3. Note: All question types except page breaks can be deleted and moved to the Recycle Bin.

Restoring Questions

1. Find the question you want to restore in the Recycle Bin panel.


2. Click the "Recover" button for that question.

3. A TOAST notification will appear, informing you that the question has been restored successfully.


4.The recovered question will be highlighted and appear in its original position.

Batch Restoring Questions

1. Click the "Bulk Recover" button in the Recycle Bin panel.

2. Select multiple questions you want to restore by checking the boxes next to them.

3. Click "Recover " to restore all selected questions at once.


4. A TOAST notification will confirm the batch restoration.

Permanently Deleting Questions

1. Find the question you want to permanently delete in the Recycle Bin panel.


2. Click the "Delete" button for that question.

3. A confirmation dialog will appear asking you to confirm the deletion.


4. Click "Confirm" to permanently delete the question, or "Cancel" to keep it in the Recycle Bin.

Clearing All Items

1. Click the "Clear All" button in the Recycle Bin panel.

2. A confirmation dialog will appear asking you to confirm clearing all items from the Recycle Bin.


3. Click "Confirm" to permanently delete all questions in the Recycle Bin, or "Cancel" to keep them.

Keyboard Shortcut - Quick Restore

1. After deleting a question, you can quickly restore it using the keyboard shortcut.


2. Press Ctrl+Z (Windows) or Cmd+Z (Mac) to restore the most recently deleted question.


3. The question will be restored immediately without opening the Recycle Bin.


4. Note: Questions restored using Ctrl+Z will not appear in the Recycle Bin.


Important Notes

- All question types except page breaks can be deleted and moved to the Recycle Bin.


- When you save the survey editing page, all questions in the Recycle Bin will be automatically cleared.


- The Recycle Bin only retains questions deleted during the current editing session.


- Questions restored using Ctrl+Z will not appear in the Recycle Bin.


- Permanently deleted questions cannot be recovered.


- The Recycle Bin opens as a right-side panel to provide more space for viewing question content.


Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Which question types can be deleted to the Recycle Bin?

A: All question types except page breaks can be deleted and moved to the Recycle Bin. Page breaks do not support deletion to the Recycle Bin.


Q: Where will restored questions appear?

A: Restored questions will be highlighted and appear in their original position, not at the bottom of the survey.


Q: Will questions restored using Ctrl+Z appear in the Recycle Bin?

A: No. Questions restored using the Ctrl+Z shortcut will not appear in the Recycle Bin; they will be directly restored to their original position.


Q: What happens to questions in the Recycle Bin after saving the survey?

Q: Can I restore multiple questions at once?

A: Yes. After clicking the "Bulk Recover" button, select multiple questions to restore by checking the boxes next to them, then click the "Recover" button to restore all selected questions at once.


Q: Can permanently deleted questions be recovered?

A: No. Once a question is permanently deleted, it cannot be recovered. Please proceed with caution, as the system will require confirmation before deletion.


Q: Can multiple Recycle Bins be opened simultaneously?

A: No. The Recycle Bin opens as a right-side panel, and only one Recycle Bin panel can be open at a time.
