Enable Anonymous Responses

SurveyMars survey platform provides an Anonymous Responses feature that allows survey creators to enable anonymous data collection. When enabled, this feature ensures respondent privacy by not storing IP addresses and hiding respondent details in response viewing and download pages. This feature is particularly useful for sensitive surveys where respondent anonymity is crucial.

Feature Access

1. Navigate to your survey editing page and locate the "Settings" section in the survey configuration menu.


2. Click on "Submit Response Control" within the Settings section.

3. You will find the "Anonymous Responses" option in the Submit Response Control settings panel.

Enabling Anonymous Responses


1. Locate the "Anonymous Responses" toggle switch in the Submit Response Control settings.


2. By default, this feature is disabled. Toggle the switch to enable Anonymous Responses.

3. When you enable Anonymous Responses, the system will automatically activate the "Do Not Store Responder IP Addresses" feature as well.


4. Click the "Save" button to confirm your settings.

1. When you save Anonymous Responses settings, a confirmation dialog will appear with the following message:


"Reminder: Enabling Anonymous Responses will also activate the feature to not store responders' IP addresses, which cannot be disabled. Do you want to confirm saving?"

2. You have two options:


- Click "Cancel" to return to the settings without saving changes


- Click "Yes, Save" to confirm and enable the Anonymous Responses feature

Viewing Responses with Anonymous Mode


1. After enabling Anonymous Responses, navigate to the response viewing or download page.


2. When Anonymous Responses is enabled, the following columns will be automatically hidden:


- "Respondent Details" column


- "IP Address" column

3. This ensures complete anonymity when viewing or downloading survey responses.


Important Notes


- Anonymous Responses is disabled by default and must be manually enabled


- Once enabled, Anonymous Responses cannot be disabled


- Enabling Anonymous Responses automatically activates the "Do Not Store Responder IP Addresses" feature


- The "Do Not Store Responder IP Addresses" feature cannot be disabled once Anonymous Responses is enabled


- When viewing or downloading responses, the Respondent Details and IP Address columns are automatically hidden


- This feature is fully supported on both desktop and mobile platforms


- Please carefully consider your survey requirements before enabling this feature, as it cannot be reversed
